Before I invest in anything, especially when it comes to my business, I ALWAYS want to know:
“What really happens once I sign the contract? What’s going on behind the curtain?”
These are great questions to ask. And if you want hours of your time back plus a marketing strategy that actually brings in clients this year, you’re going to want to read this full breakdown of what happens when you hire a marketing strategist.
In this post, you’ll learn:
- Will this feel overwhelming or organized?
- Am I going to have to micromanage everything?
- What will I actually do vs. what will the strategist do?
- When will I start seeing relief, and results?
I’m covering the good, the bad, and the awkward Slack gifs, no exceptions. 🫡
☎️ Step 1: The Discovery Call, What We Actually Talk About
First, we hop on an initial call to see how done-for-you marketing can save you time + expand your reach.
This isn’t just a sales call. In fact, I actually don’t even use the words “sales call” or “discovery call” because it really doesn’t explain how beneficial this call is for business owners.
Instead, I refer to these initial chats as “Marketing Clarity Calls” because they’re designed to look at where you’re stuck, how outsourcing can save you time, and help you feel confident in your next step.
Here’s what we talk about:
- Where you’re currently losing time, visibility, or leads
- What’s working and what isn’t in your current marketing strategy (think social media, weekly emails, email funnels, etc.)
- What’s draining your energy
- What you really want your marketing to do in the next 6 months
- How hands-off you want to be
And if it feels like a good fit, you can lock in your spot with a deposit.
📱 Step Two: FIRST 2 WEEKS (AKA THE DEEP DIVE + ONBOARDING)
Once you’re officially on board, here’s what happens next and why so many clients breathe a sigh of relief at this stage.
The first two weeks are all about onboarding and strategy. You’ll get:
- A detailed checklist of what I need from you (photos, B-roll, brand files, passwords, etc.)
- Private Slack access to me so we can communicate back-and-forth. Slack is quite literally one of my favorite platforms ever. It lets us send messages, pictures, files, and even voice notes to each other (check out the picture below to see what Slack looks like

Behind the scenes, I’m also doing a deep audit of your existing marketing.
I audit:
- Your current strategy
- Your social media profiles
- Past emails
- Your messaging
- Your branding
- Your offers
- Your audience
This gives me a full picture of where you are, which helps me build a strategy that fits your current business model and where you want to go. Nerd mode activated. 🤓
📱 STEP 3: DAYS 15-30 (YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY COMES TO LIFE)
This is where the fun begins. With your goals and audience in mind, I create a customized social media strategy, and then start building everything out.
What you’ll get:
- A clear, strategic content calendar
- Email drafts
- Branded social media graphics
- Reels and short-form video ideas for you to film (that I’ll edit later!)
- Captions that sound like you, not like they were copied and pasted from ChatGPT (gag 🤢)
Everything is then delivered in ClickUp for you to review. You can approve or request edits with one click (see the picture below for a sneak peek of how this works. It’s SO easy + organized!)

💬 One client recently messaged me after seeing her first batch of content:
“This would’ve taken me 20+ hours! Thank you!!”
And she’s right, this IS a full‑time job. But it doesn’t have to be YOUR job. That’s what I’m here for!
🎉 STEP 4: AFTER 30 DAYS (YOUR NEW MARKETING RHYTHM)
By the 30‑day mark, we’re in a groove. Content is planned, scheduled, and aligned with your goals. You’re no longer scrambling to post something last minute or feeling that stress of “I haven’t shown up in days.”
You’ve handed over the day‑to‑day of your marketing… and you feel it.
Here’s what changes:
- Your social media presence looks professional
- Your content speaks directly to your ideal client
- Your email list feels excited to read your emails because they’re packed with so much value
- You’re no longer stuck staring at a blank screen trying to come up with a caption
- You have dang good reels + graphics you’re proud of
- Your audience understands what you do and why it matters
- Your brand finally feels cohesive and consistent
You’re not spending hours each week trying to figure out what to post or how to market yourself. You’re actually focused on running your business.
Why Service Providers Really Hire Me As Their Marketing Strategist
My clients don’t hire me because they can’t write an email or social media caption. They hire me because they can’t afford to lose time, momentum, or sanity trying to do it all.
They hire me because:
- They want to stay visible without being online 24/7
- They need more time in their week
- They need strategy and execution
- They’re ready to grow without burning out
Your marketing shouldn’t be the reason you’re overwhelmed.
It should be the one of the reasons your business is growing (like in the screenshots below from one of my clients. She’s grown +82.3% on social media and has over a 46% email open rate. And we’re just getting started.)
