I see this question all the time: “What will you do with my social media platforms? What does it look like behind the scenes?”

And I get it, you want clarity before you decide to invest, especially if you’re hoping your social media will actually help grow your business.

So let’s walk through a recent audit I did for a local orthodontic practice… and I’ll show you exactly what stood out, what I recommended, and how you can apply it to your own business.

A social media audit isn’t about scrolling through your feed.

It’s about understanding how your brand currently shows up online, who sees it, why they stop scrolling, and what it actually communicates about your business.

Here’s what stood out right away in this orthodontic practice’s profiles:

  • Their business foundation was strong: amazing staff, great onboarding, and past patients who rave about their services.
  • But they weren’t being strategic and intentional about how that shows up in their marketing.

So here’s what I found and recommended in their audit…

One of the biggest opportunities was their bio.

With just a few tweaks, I made it:

✅ Clearer on who they help
✅ Clearer on where they’re located
✅ Clearer on the next step a new visitor should take

We also added keywords that help their profile get found more quickly — not just on Instagram, but also on ChatGPT searches and Google when someone is asking things like “best orthodontist near me” or “Invisalign for teens + adults.”

I also recommended they update their profile photo so it was consistent across platforms.

Why does this matter?

  • It humanizes the brand
  • It helps families instantly recognize the practice
  • It builds trust before someone even reads a caption

This is one of those details most businesses overlook, but it’s so important for brand visibility and recognition.

One of the simplest, fastest ways to instantly build trust and help people understand what you do is with a 3‑grid, the three pinned posts at the top of an Instagram profile.

Here’s the strategy I mapped out for them:

📌 Post #1 — Who They Are
A team photo + caption that highlights their approach, experience, and communities they serve so new visitors immediately feel comfortable.

📌 Post #2 — What They Offer
A clear, visual breakdown of their services (braces, Invisalign®, care for kids, teens, and adults) and what makes their practice stand out.

📌 Post #3 How to Get Started
A short, friendly video walking through how to book a free consultation and what to expect so the process feels simple and approachable.

Just these three pieces, strategically positioned, change how people see their profile.

Then we talked about content, which is where most businesses feel stuck.

If you’ve been around here long enough, you know that I don’t believe in posting “just to post.” I’m all about posting strategically.

So we outlined clear content buckets, including:

  • 🤓 Education for parents
  • 👨‍⚕️ Adult treatment education
  • 🎥 Behind‑the‑scenes moments
  • 🌟 Client wins & testimonials
  • 📍 Local and community content

Each bucket has a job, and every post should serve that job.

In a world where AI content is everywhere, showing your humanity matters.


So I encouraged them to lean into patient testimonials and spotlight features.

Why?

✔ Real faces leads to more trust
✔ Engagement goes up
✔ Patients often reshare those posts
✔ More organic reach without more ads

This is one of the most underrated ways to get more eyes on your content, AND build trust at the same time.
